I think that some of us may be overestimating the coolness of the player as the factor. While that worked in the early days, it may not now.
Apple has in their favor the fact that many people now have ripped CDs and bought protected music in Apple formats. If that base is solid enough, Urge won't fly, and hence there won't be a large installed base of protected WMA files in search of a player. If a significant number of Vista users are just starting their collection, or building on existing MP3s, there is a very strong chance that they will do the easiest thing and buy protected WMA files from Urge. This could spell disaster for Apple, particularly if Microsoft is willing to replace any protected AAC files in people's collections free of charge.
Finally, while in the early days of online music sales, it was the players and not the music downloads that drove the market, we are inevitably going to find that the players become the razor and the downloadable music the blades. Microsoft will probably price their player based on that model.

Do we know how connected the Mac App Store and the iOS App Store are? Maybe they are toying with adding requirements to the Mac App Store and they accidentally also changed the iOS one too? All we have as far as requirements in the Mac App Store at the moment is OS version and they're all pretty much the same since there are only a couple OS revisions that can even run the Mac App Store. This is mostly problematic with games due to the fact that some computers can run 10.6.6 but not the more intensive 3D games.

Apple can't keep up with iPad production, you think they are going to be able to properly build and sell (in volume) a TV? Dream on. Apple doesn't have the infrastructure to not only sell something like this, but service it as well.
The analyst wanted news so he resurrected a long dead rumor. This is not going to happen. What a joke.

Great. But that doesnt mean that tablets and PMPs should be lumped with smartphones when you're comparing smartphone OS.
But there is no such thing as a 'smartphone OS' for iOS. The OS runs across three devices (four if you include AppleTV). Just like there's no laptop OS for Windows or Mac OS X.

Count me in among the "I don't like the leather look" camp. :(
Ditto, looks like they skinned the lion and wrapped the skin around iCal.

reassuring to me even if it only means I will be able to buy computers that run a Mac OS for the next 15+ years.
Exactly. Stating the obvious, bbut now that you can run windows, I think the growth is unavoidable. All the companies that were "thinking" about converting can give OSX a try while running windows. 5%, here we come!

My brother has a android phone () and if he buys an app from the android market and doesn't like it he can get a refund and it is deleted. I think it is in a 15 minute time gap.
However this would be a nice feature to the apple app store.
15 minutes?
45 Seconds is all it took to get the facts...
Google search: "android market return policy"
First result: http://www.google.com/mobile/android/market-policies.html
For those too lazy to click...
"Returns: You have 24 hours from the time of purchase (not download) to return any applications purchased from Android Market for a full refund of any applicable fees."
Summary: 24 Hours, not 15 minutes.

As we sailed out of Miami, we spotted this gorgeous home. It's still under construction. Wonder what it'll look like when it's done?!?

To everyone else here.. it's a mock-up, which means it's not real. I think we all know Apple wouldn't release one that looks like the mock-up.The iPad 2 says you're wrong.

Btw, do Apple usually give free updates to customers who bought the computer a time period (say 2 months) before new OS release?
Yes. Usually from the time the launch day is announced to a month or two after it ships. In the past there has been a $10-20 media charge but if 10.7 ships via the app store I guess it will be free or some nominal amount like $1 to satisfy any accounting rules.

I like your idea and I think it would work in many situations if there is indeed going to be a "transition phase" toward a new type of connection format. However, I'll stick by my prediction as it offers the maximum benefit for Apple and its third party partners while keeping the whole user interaction simpler and more elegant. The Nike situation is different in the respect that it is really the only way to make a product like that workcan't have a bunch of wires getting in the way of running. I know the iPod Hi-Fi probably isn't selling well enough for Apple to worry that a new connection format would hurt their own profit margin much, but there are a LOT of third party partners out there that have only recently given it their best because Apple has probably assured them that the dock connector will be around for quite some time, so third party R&D won't be a black hole or recurring expense in that area. It is what has helped the accessory market evolve to the point it has, which has benefitted Apple immensly-don't think Apple doesn't realize that fact! It is also what is missing from the also-ran MP3 manufacturers: not enough consistency to make it worth their investment to produce for those products.
I guess we'll just have to wait and see. Of course, it COULD have both....
how about
a 30 $ optional wireless receiver that acts as a female dock connector to plug into the existing iPod docks?

Just ruined my freakin day. I was really hoping it would be an added benefit instead of a paid feature.
A rumor of a $20 annual fee ruins your day?

I find it amusing that there is a trend to make computers more like "the real thing" in areas where computers are far and away used more than the real thing. How many people still use an address/calendar book versus a computer program?
I just think it's funny.
I wonder if that brown looks better on the system than in that screenshot. It makes me happy I don't use iCal anyway.

also, you need to have a passkey and completed 10 WUs with your passkey before you'll get a bigadv unit
Actually you should get the bigadv right away, but the bonus will be awarded once you get 10 units recorded with the passkey.

i like the new Preview look :)
I don't. Well, if they would make most other apps follow the same look (pioneered by Mail.app) then I wouldn't mind it too much. The number of distinct interface styles is getting to be absurd. Thank goodness for UNO (http://gui.interacto.net/index.php?option=com_frontpage&Itemid=1).

AT&T has hands down the worst service I have ever experienced.
It is as though they were operating in an emerging mobile phone world sometime in the early 80's when phones were the size of a Sat phone or you carried it in its own portable case.
In all the years I was with Verizon I had maybe 10 dropped calls.
They should be ashamed of themselves. But really what do they care, they have the iphone exclusively for the time being.
I must say this reflects poorly on Apple who picked these idiots in the first place.
Honestly, on a day to day basis, I think about going back and just giving up, the service is just terrible and I live in NYC! Where there are towers everywhere, and I usually have 5 bars.
Despicable profit seeking, customer service unfriendly whores is what they are!

Reading through all of these negative comments, I really hope that someone at Apple is paying attention or this information is relayed to them. They really need to know how ugly this thing is.

I believe icerabbit was referring to a feature to restore an item to its original location once putting it in the trash. Windows has this feature in the recycle bin and it's a handy little feature.
This isn't to do with Time Machine as the user has not yet deleted the item from the Trash and the system.
Sorry IceRabbit i misread your post. My bad! :o
