Hey, just be confident.. not all people get a chance to go in a place and apply for a job.. besides, if you have all the qualities of an applicant, there is no reason to be shy, rather tell your interviewer on what you can do to be an asset and help the company grows more.:D

Congradulations again to all those IV memeber who are getting Green card approvals and goodluck to all those members who are able to file their I485 and get EAD, just to be out of H1B /H4 clutches and one more step closer to green card
As current drastic visa movment proved the fact that for IV members main issue is not current law but itz implimentation. a change in law will certainly help, but thatz not our big problem
I would like to discuss your IV future agend with current situation, Please post your opinion how you think IV should procede based on current situations.
I belive IV should now concentrate more on making sure current law is implimented in a more effeciant way, make sure USCIS does not waste any visa numbers, we need to push for speeding citizenship processes and makeup for loss time during retrogression
IV should stop chasing CIR which has nothing for us and itz very controversial
IV is for legals and we should concentrate only on whatz good for us
I really appreciate core members opinion
by the way I got my approval for my I485

We filed our 485 on July 2nd 2007 at Nebraska office EB3 July 7, 2001
- The case was shifted to Texas and we received notices from Texas office with receipt date of August 27.
- Our date is now current however processing at Texas is still stuck at June 27, 2007.
- Does this mean our RD is now 08/27/07 even though it was recd. at Nebraska on 07/02/07??
Unfortunately yes - RD Aug 27, you can confirm this by looking at your receipt notice that you got from your attorney.

Friend,
Just went thorugh this 3 weeks ago. Same case as yours both for me and my wife. Wrong date stamped on my I-94 while returning from India.
Called the local international airport cutoms division and they made me come down to the airport and after showing the correct documentation issued new I-94 cards with correct I94 dates. Try this and you should face no problems i hope.
I'm from Michigan and i went to the Metro airport in detroit.

Hi,
I am looking to switch employers. Although the job descriptions are pretty similar ( C coding, design, protocols etc.), my PERM was filed for Computer Software Engineer-Applications whereas the new one falls under Computer Software Engineer, Systems Software. Is this a risk during I-485 adjudication. Also my new salary is 50% higher than my original PERM salary (It has been almost 4 years since my original PERM).
Thanks.

Nobody can file I-485 before their PD is current.
You need to wait 4+7 years to file I-485.
Till that point, you need to maintain a legal status here.

bfadlia is right ... it was/is pretty straight forward. We did it ourselves too.
Again, Cheap is a relative term
The process is so simple, instructions on the website are clear. There is no need for a lawyer. Most people I know did it themselves successfully. I did it on my own too and I'm about to land soon.
On second thought, you may hire me to help you :)
On second thought: Do you have EAD? :D (just kidding)

WOW, since May 2007.. This is F***E* BS man, sorry to hear about this.
I would suggest switching your application to premium processing. I did that back in 2006 for my 6th year H1 renewal. It might cost additional $$$ but I guess it is well worth it.
Good luck.
My perm was filed in May 2007 in EB2. Got RFE in July 2007. Replied within 2 weeks. No response since then.
Can I do anything from my side. Is there any way to contact/request DOL to inquire about the case.

Yes, as per current law you can get SS benefits after retirement age even if you do not have a GC and even if you are not residing in US. The only requirement is for you to have 40 SS credits.
However, given the current state of SS, it is quite likely that rules might change over next 5, 10, 20, 30 years.

Yesterday I went to a training for immigration attorneys in Sacramento, California. The jurisdiction of the USCIS field office in Sacramento (https://egov.uscis.gov/crisgwi/go?action=offices.detail&office=SAC&OfficeLocator.office_type=LO&OfficeLocator.statecode=CA) includes the cities of Vallejo and Benicia so I thought it might be useful to hear about any new local procedures. While I did not learn anything new about what is happening at Sacramento USCIS, I did learn about new procedures being applied to applicants applying for visas abroad.
It seems that applicants who have tattoos are being screened more carefully at their medical appointments. The belief is that an individual with a tatoo may be involved in gang activity which furthermore may lead to that individual engaging in substance abuse. In a published article included in conference materials at the American Immigration Lawyers Associations (AILA (http://www.aila.org/)) annual conference, immigration lawyers Fernando Rojas and Magda Montiel Davis, explain what is happening:
Panel physicians are asking applicants about the meaning of their tattoos and the medical personnel conducting the exam will take notes describing the tattoo. This interrogation could lead to further questions about the applicants possible gang affiliation and criminal history. Applicants with tattoos are also being questioned by the panel physician regarding their substance abuse history. Apparently, panel physicians are making the assumption that applicants with tattoos are more likely to do or abuse drugs. If the beneficiary admits to any drug use, Consulates will use this information against the applicant in order to deny the visa by making a substance abuse finding against them.A finding of substance abuse is serious because an applicant who is a drug user or abuser may be denied admission to the United States pursuant to Immigration and Nationality Act Section 212(a)(1)(A)(iv) (http://www.uscis.gov/propub/ProPubVAP.jsp?dockey=9b60c646835045a30ceca097f0ca1 ba3). I would counsel anyone carefully who has a tattoo to be very honest about what the tattoo means. An applicant should be prepared to answer in- depth questions about something that may have been inconsequential to them. In my opinion, it would not be a bad idea to have the tattoo removed if possible. Of course the fact that a person has a tattoo does not mean that he or she is a substance abuser. It is scary that examiners are making that assumption, but I do not expect this scrutiny to go away. The best practice is to be aware that this questioning is taking place and to be prepared.

Hi,
My H1B expired on sept 2009. My employer applied for my visa extension I received my approved 797 copy, but I 94 number on my 797 and passport are not matching. To explain further, when I first entered in US in March 2007 I got I 94 (ex: 123), when I last time entered in US in April 2008 I got I94 (ex: 456) which is my latest I94 number displayed on my passport. My latest H1B extension valid till sept 2012 is showing I 94 number issued to me when I entered in 2007 (123) instead of my latest I 94 number(456) attached to my passport.
Will this be a problem? I have to sponsor my in-laws visa so please guide me how this can be handled. Any help appreciated. Thank you very much in advance.

Mostly they do not ask you 797 if you have valid stamping. You need to show new original 797 only if you have extended one, so that they will issue i-94 till end of your extension, otherwise your i94 will have expiry date (of stamping in passport ) as your end date of I-94.
Does that makes sense ?
