Please share your experience with purchasing tickets online from sites like makemytrip.com. chepoairines.com etc kinda sites verses travel agents.
I am planning to go from New York to New Delhi after 2-3 months and exploring options. Recently someone I know came from India and paid only 1.5 Lakh rupees for 5 tickets. He could get a good deal because he knew the travel agent.
This shows the huge margins these travel agents and travel insurance agents have. Travel insurance purchased in USA does not even consider pre existing conditions ( their terms and conditions are confusing) and getting them to pay your bills is a big pain. So I can understand why travel agents and travel insurance agents make so much money and can advertise everywhere on TV and websites in USA.
So please share experience and suggest a good website or agent who can give a great deal to me. Do not reply if you are an agent. I am looking for experiences from customers.

Got a letter from Sen B Boxer, CA. Standard letter.. with bla bla bla..
zeast of letter.. Sen. is working hard to resolve the complex issue and requested me to keep patience.

Yes it is positive --At-least senators are sticking to their timetable of CIR by March and April.
I guess that is the reason IV is asking for stories by Wednesday noon, This hearing is also on the same day.

Even one of your reputed member (Rajiv Khanna @ immigration.com) posted in his website that chance of winning the law suit is very minimum.
He posted in his website as follows: "Please note folks, I don�t think this class will be easily approved by courts. CIS could argue a lot of things against it, which I don�t wish to publish in an open forum."
Corrections.

If the attorney submitted G-28 for that particular petition (which got the RFE), then only the attorney gets the RFE. But I believe any one can respond to the RFE (yourself or another attorney) along with a new G-28 to change the representation.

You were out of status in those 5 months. It does not matter at LC and I-140 stages only at I-485. However upto 180 days of out of status is forgiven when you file your 485, so you should be ok. THis is IN CASE you get an RFE for this. There is a good chance USCIS might even overlook this. Also if you left the US and returned any time after tha tou tof status, your slate is wiped clean (they are only supposed to check your status since your last entry into the US). So either way you should be ok... dont worry about it.

That is one option but given that I am not on H1 and nor with the same employer - it may not be the way to go. This is something I am going to look into and have an attorney weigh in on. Thanks!

I agree you might be better off filing a new I-485 if the visa number is available once the I-140 is approved. It is sometimes difficult to get the USCIS to do the interfiling, they often don't send any acknowledgment of the same.

What are the implications if for some wierd reason your I-485 gets denied and you dont have an H1-B to fall back upon?
Say you have an H1-B which is extended for 3 yrs( based on approved I-140) from now till 2011, in the year 2011 your I-485 file is opned and its not approved for some reason so will you get another 3 yr extension for H1-B ie till year 2014?
When you are switching employer with AC21 using H1B you can get a transfer to the new company for 3 years and get extensions from the new employer when that 3 year expires. So no worries... Enjoy

Hi,
I work as a full time employee (h1b) for a company abc in CA. In Oct 09 they laid off a couple of people and the attorney instead of revoking a laid off persons h1b sent a note to USCIS to revoke my h1b while im still employed. They informed USCIS to ignore the note they sent but USCIS ignored and cancelled my H1. In the meantime attorney files another h1b and got h1b approval (without i94 stub)
I was getting paystub till now and today they called me and said I was out of status due to the mistake they did. They didn't inform me about the out of status from Nov 07 2009. They basically wanted to cover their mistakes. Now yhey are asking me to go to Canada or Mexico to get H1B stamped. Here are my concerns
1) What will be implication in the embassy for such situations where I'm totally unaware of our of status situation
2) Is there chances of my H1B getting rejected in Canada or mexico due to out of status and would they ask me to go to India from Canada/Mexico ( i don't mind going to india but I have 5 month old baby and woudn't want to risk the travel from US to Canada/mexico to India)
3) Or is it advisable to go to india and get it stamped
My company has given a letter stating that it was their error to USICS and agreed to bear all the expenses for travel.
I need your urgent help and all of your comments and suggestions are greatly appreciated.
